Veins Introduces New Internal Team Competitions: V5000 Monday, December 1, 2008

We are planning to do our own internal team competition .  This tourney will be called V5000 .

Each team will have 3 players with maximum total rating of 5000.  Examples:

*VALID* team: player A 1400, B 1500, C 1600 (total 4500).
*INVALID* team: A 1900, B 1700, C 1450 (total 5050).

FICSers who are not Veins can be invited to play in any team as our guests.  The idea is the same with any other IBS guests: friendly, like chess, and commit to playing their games.

If you're interested then let's get together, make new friends, and form secret alliances :)

Once you have your team, email Carlos or Dan:

1) player names
2) team name
3) team captain

Happy recruiting :) :) :)  Just send us your teams and get ready for battle.  We will figure out and let you know who playing whom and all the details (schedulings, pairings, board assignment, unplayed games, etc...)

SauVeins-Draco Boycotts TL 37 Playoffs Wednesday, November 19 2008

Due to injustice and lack of sportsmanship in Team League including but not limited to accusing two honorable Veins players of cheating and also ignoring three other Veins finalist teams in playoffs hereby we officially announcethat SauVeins-Draco will not play in Team League 37 so-called playoffs.

(1) TL:

- Has ruled against Loucke and Clive.
- Has taken off points from 3 of our top teams, eliminating them from the playoff.
- Has refused to expose the methods they use to determine computer abuse.
- Has no appeal process.  They rule, and that's final.

(2) Our responses:

- We have contacted TL chief, blkmagic, to inquire about an appeal process.
- We have appealed directly to FICS for the opportunity to offer evidence in support of our guys.
-We have enlisted the aid of an International GrandMaster to review the games in question and offer his expert opinion on the matter
- We are prepared to ask the Spanish Chess Federation to supply documentation of Loucke's OTB achievements (Loucke is a member of the Spanish Chess Federation and is currently ELO rated at 1988, with two OTB wins against rated Masters yet to be calculated, his FIDE rating is due in February.)
-We have also checked the games in question against several computer programs and there is no conclusive evidence against Loucke or Clive.

(3) Our reasons:

- We will uphold the "innocent until PROVEN guilty" standard.
- It is incomprehensible that such serious charges are brought against our guys without even afford us a chance to make a case in our defense.
- It is unfair, unjust and we do not accept it.
- This is strictly a teamleague deal. They don't have enough evidence to convict, though they may be suspicious. This is not about FICS or FICS abusive policy; FICS has not accused Loucke or Clive of anything.
- Loucke is very smart and dedicated to chess, and he has plenty of evidence to support himself.
- Clive has a good enough reputation is South Africa that his son's school invites him to coach its chess team.
- There is no evidence of cheating at all except for the TL charges, and we do not think TL is fair or unbiased. TL does not have enough information to make such charges.

(4) Our decision:

- We don't have to subject ourselves to being labeled a cheat by such an organization as TL
- We will pull all our teams off TL immediately. Team Draco will not play in TL playoff.
- Our future participation with TL will be considered once Loucke and Clive have been publicly cleared of any cheating and TL adopts a more fair and democratic way of operating.
- We will resume our fun and friendly IBS tourneys ASAP :)

Finally, as Carlos puts it, Veins comes into FICS world as a bomb... we will stay in FICS history as the best team FICS have ever seen for centuries!

Go Veins!!!!!!!!!!!!

A new bot for V-FEC is on its way!

A new FICS bot dedicated to V-FEC tourneys called VeinsBot is under programming by Marc (MDU of FICS) with some great help from Marcin Kasperski, WatchBot author, and Sebastian Stephan Seberg (seberg on FICS), Teamleague and STCbot writer.

Step-by-step the programming stages are completing and the bot is getting ready to be at V-FEC service.
